Competencies
Mays Business School at Texas A&M has developed seven behavioral competencies for success in business and in life. These are how I interpret those competencies and the affect they have on me as a person.
Communication
Communication is the ability to effectively convey information to another in an easily comprehensible manner.
Leading
Leading is more than being the best at something and expecting others to respect you for that. Leading is understanding your followers and acting in a way that exemplifies what you hope to succeed as a whole.
Managing
Managing encompasses the ability to delegate and run various groups of people.
Problem Solving
Problem solving includes analyzing complex issues and simplifying them into short term solutions. Those solutions should be easy to translate by others to improve overall efficiency in a workplace.
Creating New Opportunities
Creating new opportunities is when one can create new connections that can promote even greater future success through multiplying opportunities.
Acting Ethically
People must keep in mind how their actions can affect others. Having an ethical code of conduct for businesses can prevent an abundance of liability.
Working With Others
Since no one person is exactly alike another, it's important to understand your colleagues so that the best work environment can be created and thrived in for everyone.
